Color Match
Don't read the word. Identify the ink COLOR.
Master the Stroop Effect
Color Match is a digital implementation of the world-famous Stroop Test. This psychological experiment demonstrates the interference in your brain's processing speed when it's presented with conflicting information. It’s a powerful method to measure and improve selective attention and cognitive flexibility.
Why this game is fun?
It’s a bizarrely frustrating yet entertaining battle between different parts of your brain. Your "automatic" reading system constantly fights with your "deliberate" color-naming system. Finding a rhythm and successfully filtering out the text creates a unique mental satisfaction similar to solving a high-speed puzzle.
How to Play
A word will appear on the screen. The word itself will name a color (e.g., "RED"), but the ink it's printed in will be a different color (e.g., Blue). Ignore the text and click the button that matches the ink color. You have 30 seconds to get as many correct as possible!
The Science Behind It:
- Processing Speed: Reading words is an "automatic" process for most adults. Naming colors is "controlled" and takes more effort.
- Interference: When the two processes conflict, your reaction time slows down. Repeatedly playing this can help train your brain's focus.
- Brain Health: Regular cognitive exercises like the Stroop test are widely recommended for maintaining mental agility and executive function as we age.
